DeSears Appliances is Social: In the summer of 1947, the DeSear brothers founded a general grocery store in Samoset, Florida and named it “DeSear’s”, originally specializing in meats, animal feed, general dry goods and GE Home Appliances. By the mid fifties DeSears stopped selling general merchandise to focus on the growing demand for Major Appliances in the local market establishing the name, DeSears Appliances. Well today, the DeSears Appliance tradition of proudly “Serving One Customer at a Time” is lives now in the realm of Social Media. This past week DeSears launched their official Twitter page and official Facebook Business Page. GE Bows Spanish Language Mobile Site: Did you know that cellphone use among adults in the general population has increased 18 percent since 2005, while usage among Hispanic adults has gone up 26 percent? GE Appliances noticed and decided to take their mobile site and convert it into Spanish. Back in November of 2010, GE launched their first mobile site to allow shoppers to browse products, rebates and promotions, and product specifications, as well as locate stores in their area. Well now, those that speak and read Spanish will have the same access to information. GE currently maintains and runs a Spanish-language version of their regular consumer website which had seen huge increases in traffic, up 75 percent. Smart business and even smarter marketing strategy put forth by GE to attack an 2 important business market segment that are under-developed, the Hispanic Market and the Mobile Site Market.
